2 Phases ~ Reduction - Maintenance

Phase 1: Reduction

The aim here is to reduce the fluid in the tissues to enable a compression garment to be used.

This phase involves daily sessions of manual lymphatic drainage, compression  bandaging (multilayer),  de-congestive exercises , skin care, breathing exercises. and education.

Phase 2: Maintenance

The aim of this phase is the long term maintenance of the reduction in limb size obtained in Phase 1. This involves measuring and fitting of a compression  garment , regular manual lymphatic drainage, exercise, skin care, breathing exercises  and education on home self care including self massage and self bandaging. 

CDT is used for treating lymphedema, lipodema, lipo-lymphedema and edema from venous insufficiency.
